Hi Tom,
This email reminded me that I never got my book into the mail to you. I promise to mail it this Monday.

I hope all is well with you and you are staying clear of Covid19 and all the variants.

I always enjoy your updates to the CNAC website, and I can provide additional information on William Pierce Carson. Bill and I were DC-6 Captains for Overseas National Airways in 1960. I met him during layovers in Gander, Newfoundland. He was born on August 11, 1920, and passed away on April 13, 2015, in Key Largo, Florida.

Many employees at ONA endeared him as a coworker and senior captain. A full page was dedicated to him on the ONA website when he passed on. I contributed to the site at that time. The website is www.onacrew.com When you get on the first page, click on the line at the bottom of the page below the flowers. That will bring you to the dedication page. Go down the list of deceased until you reach Bill’s name and click on it.

I hope this bit of information will fill in a blank or two. Hopefully, I will get the book on the way Monday, and I will be down your path later in the Spring.

All the best,
Warren (Vest)

Hello Tom,

Here is a little, a very little, on William P. Carson, pilot:

William Pierce Carson Jr. was born in Louisiana on 11 August 1920. He had an interest in acting. After four years of college, on 12 July 1941 he enlisted in the U.S. Army Medical Administration Corps. Ultimately he would rise to the rank of Major.

On 7 March 1942, while serving with Aviation Squadron No. 314, he married Irma Irene Ludvik at Jackson, Mississippi.

Major Carson died in Florida, age 94, on 13 April 2015 and is interred at Florida National Cemetery with his wife, Irma, who predeceased him in 2013. Major Carson was the recipient of a Purple Heart.

As regards his service with CNAC, he appears to be deadheading, attached, on a CNAC flight from Hong Kong to Honolulu, 9 March 1949, with Captains O’Dwyer and Bussart in charge.
