From the book, "Santo Tomas" by Frederic Stevens, the following were liberated from Los Banos: Alvin (Raymond) Carlson (father) Imogene Ina Carlson (mother) Lawrence Carlson (son) Mark (Robin) Carlson (son) December 26, 2009 Dear Tom, I am Lawrence (Larry) R. Carlson living at Talisay, Cebu, Philippines. I, with my brother Robin and my parents, Ray and Imogene Carlson were rescued from Los Banos on 23 Feb 1945. Daddy and Mama passed away many years ago, but the rescue from Los Banos is one of my earliest recollection. Mama describes in detail our incarceration in her book: “American Family Interned.” I recently wrote a book, “Before the Colors Fade” essentially my life story, but have included events from the paratroopers jumping into Los Banos. I was only 3 years old at the time of the rescue, but it has stayed with me all my life. Larry Carlson December 29, 2009 Thanks to Ted and Barbara Carlson for sending the following two photos: Ray Carlson and Mark Robin Santo Tomas - 1945 left to right Mark, Imogene, Ray and Larry Ted, born in 1947, sitting on Ray's lap about 1948 or would like to be added to my POW/Internee e-mail distribution list, please let the me, Tom Moore, know.
