My father, W. R. DeMore, was a civilian prisoner of the Japanese during the war, and was liberated in 1945. I believe he was in Bilibid Prison, but have never been able to find his name on any prisoner list. I would greatly appreciate any information you may have which might help in this search.
Thank you,
W. B. DeMore

Dear Mr. DeMore,
Your father was indeed held in Bilibid Prison. His name is on the
official rescue roster prepared by US Forces after liberation of the
camp. The original roster is in the US National Archives. A
photographic copy was made by Mr. Roger Mansell on a visit there 2 years
ago. I have attached the cover page and two internal pages. The later
two list your Dad as one of the civilians liberated from the camp.
Unfortunately, I can't locate the specific box number but I'm pretty
sure the files were in Record Group 331.
I've been researching POW issues for many years now. My late father,
Albert Erickson, was also a POW. 3-1/2 yrs at O'Donnell, Cabanatuan,
Bilibid, Fukuoka #3, and Mukden.
Best regards,
Jim Erickson
