January 23, 2006 Good Afternoon Tom, My name is Ann Lewis Conroy. My family, consisting of Charles (Chuck) Lewis, Juanita Holmes Lewis, Ann Hamilton Lewis, Grace Sharon Lewis (Sherry Newkirk), and Robert Dudley Lewis were in Santo Tomas from January 4, 1942 until February 22nd, 1945. Dad was a YMCA secretary at the Army-Navy "Y" in Manila from 1928 until '32, then again from '39 until war broke out. The three children were born in Iloilo, Panay, we lived there, and in Bacolod, Negros, before moving to Manila in 1939. I have a photograph of a sketch of our shanty in shanty town.
