May 3, 2007 Dear Mr Moore - I came across your site today while trying to locate information on my father, a former prisoner of Santo Tomas. I have just started my search for information, and havent had much luck to date. My father, Charles Pleydell Moat, was captured by the Japanese. He was British, and had been working in the Philipines prior to the outbreak of war there. He signed up with the American army, but the Japanese did not know this when they captured him - consequently he was treated as a civilian prisoner, partially disguised by his British accent. He was a prisoner from 1941-1945, freed by the US marines. If you can direct me in any way as to how to find records of his internment, or his history with the US Army, I would be most appreciative. Sincerely, Alison Graeme agraeme@telus.net or would like to be added to the POW/Internee e-mail distribution list, please let me, Tom Moore, know. Thanks! |
