March 4, 2005 Thank you for your e-mail - sorry about the delay but I have just been away for 5 weeks in the South Pacific and the return from 80F to 32F is a shock. Your queries. 1. Yes I was interned in Weihsien Camp. 2. Add me to the distributioon list by all means. Now comments I can recall CNAC DC-3s after WW2 as I did not get out of China until 1951 so I know what CNAC is all about. I am researching the British civlains who were interned by the Japanese as there is no composite list availble anywhere, in my research I do have the names of other nationalities who were in camps which had a proportion of British as there were many mixed marriages and it is some people had dual nationality. At this stage I have over 30,000 names on my data base, the format for publication is not yet decided as I ahve up to 25 data fields. I have Elizabeth Steele Scott born 1920 in Santo Tomas. As for your pages great idea but huge task. There are around 3,000 British civilains still alive and I suspect 2,000 American, 200 Canadian, Austarlain, New Zealand and about 20,000 Dutch. I have not considerd the military. With regards Civilains Actually interned those numbers are 20,000, 14,000, 1100 and 150,000 respectively. Rgds Ron or would like to be added to my POW/Internee e-mail distribution list, please let me, Tom Moore, know. Thanks! |
