August 20, 2004 SIRS. I WAS SHIPMATE OF MISTER LUNDQUIST IN 1941. AT THAT TIME PRIOR TO INTERNMENT WE WERE SHIPMATES ON THE SS CAPILLO. THE SS CAPILLO WAS SET AFIRE BY JAPANESE DIVE BOMBERS OFF OF CORREGIDOR DECEMBER 26, 1941. MR. LUNDQUIST WAS THE FIRST MATE ON THE CAPPILLO. I WAS THE USMMCC C/M ENGINEER. WE ALONG WITH OTHER MEMBERS OF THE CREW WERE TAKEN PRISONERS BY THE JAPS ON 2 JANUARY 1941 ENDING UP IN SANTO TOMAS AND IN MY CASE A PRISONER WHO WAS A CHARTER MEMBER AT LOS BANOS.
