Yesterday, February 23, 2021 I received the following e-mail:

Dear Sir

My name is Jay Jiang from Shanghai China. I am the grandson of Mr. Jiang Songfu (蒋松甫 1917-1977.4.10)and my grandmother Ms. Le Yaqing (乐雅清 1921.10.25-2007.6)Both of them were born in Dinghai Zhoushancity, Zhejiang province and died in Shanghai. They have 3 sons and 4 daughters. I have been looking for years about the news of my grandfather Songfu Jiang who was borned in 1917 and working for CNAC in the world war 2. All the news were from my last generation piece by piece. It is said that my grandfather was a technician or mechanical with engines or something at Calcutta at that time. And after the war he was working at Longhua airport Shanghai for a short time. Since I never had a chance to see my grandfather as he passed away before my birth. My families lost all the information about him and the generations before him. Wish I could have the luck to know something about him from your side.

Thank you so much for your time and wish you all the best!

Then today (February 24, 2021) I receive this message and several photos. See below...

Dear Sir

Thank you for your reply.

I do have some photos of my grandfather, unfortunately I don’t have any documents so far. I have names Mr. Su Shoufa(Su Amao)and Mr. Lin Haiseng who worked with my grandfather from Rangoon Burma to Calcutta India. My grandfather was in Chongqing after and then back home to Shanghai.

I was told that my grandfather was skilled and could removed the engines at night by hands without light under the flash of bombs. He was sent to the airport by Americans with other co-workers to remove some engines from the aircraft fleet in a retreat before the Japanese have them.

Wish I could have more info since I asked my families to provide me what they could know. As my last generations are getting old wish we could have our own history asap before it’s too late.

Thank you very much for your time.

Best regards,
Jay Jiang

This last one was taken at Rangoon.

Also I found another photo (see below) taken in front of the dormitory at Rangoon of my grandfather. There is a documentary called Legendary and heroic hump airlift in China and I found the name of Mr. Su Shoufa (苏守法)in the name list of maintenance but it ends with an etc. because of they could not find more documents.

Can you help add to the life of Songfu Jiang
