EVANDER SHAPARD, JR. (1917-1976)
"Van"
(CNAC 1942 - 1945)
(Captain - March 1943)
(Hump Flights - XXX)
From Gene Banning's list of 8/31/00: "... AVG, 1942; prom capt 3/43; left at end of war." In the 1943-45 log book of Don McBride, Van listed his address as: Shappard, Van TENN. (anyone have any thoughts on the double "p" spelling?) November 8, 2001 I admire your project. I am a Shapard by marriage and have since divorced. My wonderful inlaws are deceased now, but I do remember China stories. My father-in-law was Edward T. Shapard who also served in China. Van was his cousin. I believe Van Shapard was named Evander, if that helps in your search. All of these Shapard's were from Tennessee. The ranking family menber now is a cousin, Scott Shapard, in Shelbyville, Tennessee. Perhaps he can help you. I remember geneologies and other interesting family documents that are probably now in the possession of Robert Shapard in Shelbyville or Edward T. Shapard, Jr. in De Moines, Iowa. Hope this helps. Good luck!
