Tom- many thanks for the reply. I’m just thankful we all are still alive and kicking in these tough times.

Love the Hawaii link. So many fond memories of time spent there. Someday I’ll go back….

A bit more into about my uncle. His chinese name was 沈宗進 which would be spelled in today's romanization as Shen Zongjin. He was born in 1923. Don’t have any other more specific birthday.

In 1943 he attended Western United University in Kunming, Yunnan Province, studying electrical engineering, but left sophomore year for military service. He apparently served in the CNAC starting in 1944. MIA January 1945 per your site. The dates don’t quite add up if we started university in 1943 and left in 1944 unless he was super green when he went down in 1945. Maybe it was so given wartime exigencies.

No known photos of my uncle are known to exist but he was supposedly my Mom’s favorite brother but not favored by their Mom which is why he enlisted according to family lore.

His name along with far too many others is on the memorial in Nanjing. I haven’t made it there yet but plan to.

南京抗日航空烈士纪念馆 [NanJing KangRi HangKong LieShi JiNianGuan] Monument to the Aviator Martyrs in the War of Resistance against Japan.

Best regards
