Received the following information from YoungChi Tang (ytang777@gmail.com) on January 7, 2019: Here is some information about CNAC pilot F.C. Lee (Fong Chio Lee 李鳳朝, AKA Andrew Lee). He was born in Guangdong, China on 2/10/1922 and passed away on 10/27/1989. F.C. Lee was a friend of my dad's, C.H. Tang. F.C. Lee attended Guangxi University in 1942 and majored in economics. In March 1943, he joined the the Chinese Air Force Academy in Kunming, China and trained in India. He then joined CNAC in April 1944 as a co-pilot. He completed about 400 Hump flights through August 1945. On 11/9/1949, he joined the "defection/uprising" as a co-pilot in a C-47, code XT-139, with 11 other aircraft heading north from Hong Kong Kai Tak Airport en route to Tianjin while Gordon Poon flew a Convair to Beijing. After he returned to China, he and other former CNAC employees made great efforts and contributions to build and grow CAAC. They set up many new airlines and trained many new pilots. However, during the "Cultural Revolution" (1966 ~ 1976), he and many other former CNAC employees were mistreated. He survived a harsh life during that time. After the "Cultural Revolution", he had his political rights reinstated and returned to his job at the CAAC in 1979. He held the following positions in CAAC • Co-pilot • Captain • Flight examiner • Staff officer of training F.C. Lee 1944, Kunming, China F.C. Lee 1946, Hangzhou, China F.C.
