CHARLES UBAN (1921-2003)
"Charlie"

(CNAC late in 1943 - Summer of 1945)
(Captain - ???)
(Hump Flights - more than 524, but less that 550)

In the 1943-45 log book of Don McBride, Charlie listed his address as:

Chas Uban

I don't know much about Charlie Uban, yet, but John Kenehan tells me he "was always trying to sing Oh, What a Beautiful Morning, real early before many were awake."

Author, Robert James Waller wrote a book called, "Old Songs in a New Cafe" and one of the chapters is entiled "The Boy from the Burma Hump".
Mostly about Charlie, but many other CNAC employees are mentioned.
It's a good read and worth the effort.

If you can share any information about Charlie Uban
or would like to be added to the CNAC e-mail distribution list,
please let the CNAC Web Editor, Tom Moore, know.
Thanks!
